Washougal — The Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1744 in Stevenson donated $500 to two music programs in the Washougal School District. The money was raised during the Eagles’ fifth annual Mardi Gras event, which brings in funds to support students and music in schools throughout Skamania County. Cape Horn-Skye Elementary and Canyon Creek Middle School, both located in Skamania County, split the donation. Cape Horn music teacher Anna Breithaupt said she’s going to use her portion of the money on a new sound system for her classroom. “This way the students will be able to hear music more clearly and louder in class,” she said in a release from the school district. “We will be able to do more listening and movement activities in class, giving the students a better appreciation for music.” The Canyon Creek portion of the grant will go toward band equipment.
