The man whose body was found near Dougan Falls on Saturday died of homicidal violence, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

An autopsy was performed Sunday by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office, which also determined the man’s identity, the sheriff’s office said. However, the agency didn’t release the man’s name pending notification of next of kin.

Police were sent to the Dougan Falls Bridge area, about 17 miles northeast of Washougal, at about 9:10 a.m. Saturday after someone reported that there was a body over the embankment, the sheriff’s office said.

Skamania County investigators said they have reason to believe the homicide occurred about 6 to 8 hours prior to the discovery of the body. The agency continues to investigate.
