Letter: Expect more from the wealthy

By James Anderson, VANCOUVER
Published: April 4, 2017, 6:00am

When Donald Trump was running for office, I had the feeling he was going to be a force for change that only really big money could fix. I hoped he was going to use his influence like billionaires of the past have done, put pressure on the people who have unlimited money with the ability to single-handedly build a bridge and name it after themselves, or build a highway and do the same.

Instead, he is doing the same old thing that every single president has done: Go to the people who can least afford it, and tax them.

When are the people of the world going to wake up and see that our neighboring country is not the enemy. There certainly appears to be plenty of money out there. It’s just not in the pockets of those who are asked to give it.

Trump should use his vast influence to get billionaires to pony up.
