Local Washington Federal to celebrate centennial

Seattle-based bank Washington Federal turns 100 this year, and the local branch is hosting a celebration.

The branch will play Wheel of Fortune and provide cupcakes and coffee to local businesses and residents who attend.

The celebration is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 24 at the bank, 13411 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., Suite A-1.

Washington Federal started in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood in 1917. Today there are 238 branches in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Texas, Nevada and New Mexico.

The bank reportedly retains $14.9 billion in assets.
