Letter: GOP to blame for going ‘nuclear’

By James S. Roberts, VANCOUVER

Your April 6 editorial “In Our View: Dems Wrong on Gorsuch” obscures what really happened when the Republicans employed the “nuclear option.” What makes you think that they would have done anything different if the Democrats had in fact chosen to choose another time to filibuster?

The Republicans, displaying their totalitarian mindset, have destroyed a long-standing rule to permit the minority party a say. The Republicans alone are the irresponsible party.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
