LINCOLN CITY, Ore. — Felony charges have been filed against a woman accused of starting a fire that killed four people and injured three others at a coastal Oregon motel last summer.

Court records show 38-year-old Rebecca Sinclair of Toledo, Ore., was arraigned Tuesday on charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, reckless burning and recklessly endangering another person.

Sinclair is being held on $750,000 bail. Her court-appointed attorney, Jonathan Cable, said he just got the case and is still investigating the allegations.

Prosecutors have yet to say what evidence leads them to believe Sinclair is responsible for the blaze that swept through the City Center Motel in Newport on Aug. 5.

Authorities said the fire started on bottom floor of the two-story motel and killed couples from Portland and Springfield who were staying in rooms on the top floor.
