Letter: Don’t scorn sick, elderly

Apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 8:

“The goal is equality, as it is written: ‘The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.’ ”

The motive of the American Health Care Act, or any replacement GOP bill, is to give back to the wealthy the billions of dollars in subsidies funding from Obamacare and, by doing so, remove the most needy 24 million people from their health care. Through savings from greatly reduced or eliminated coverage, President Trump would then be able to afford more tax cuts to the wealthy through tax policy change.

What are we becoming when we scorn our sick and elderly?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
