Letter: Don’t make Vancouver an oil town

By Pete Conder, Vancouver
Published: August 2, 2017, 6:00am

I see comments made about the negative affects of the oil terminal proposed by Tesoro Corporation. And while I agree with all the reasons why we should not have the terminal, there is one point that is continually overlooked. It is Vancouver Energy, which is nothing more than a hollow shell company with no assets, limited liability and could carry only the minimal insurance required to operate. This is designed to protect the assets of Tesoro and Savage from liabilities.

I am not interested in losing the livability of the area I live in and will not live in a oil town. If this happens, I won’t wait for property values to decline and disaster to happen; I will be getting while the getting is good.

I’m not interested in living in an oil town.
