Washington State University Clark County Extension is offering a yearlong prediabetes prevention course.

The national Diabetes Prevention Program can help people who are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes lose weight and become more physically active. The yearlong program begins with 12 weekly sessions, followed by two months of biweekly sessions and seven months of monthly sessions.

Two class series begin next month at The Heritage Farm, 1919 N.E. 78th St., Vancouver. One session is 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Sept. 5. The other session is 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Thursdays beginning Sept. 21.

Pre-registration is required. There is a fee for the class, but many insurance plans will cover the cost. Financial assistance may also be available. For more information or to register, call 360-397-6060, ext. 5721.
