Letter: Fix Obamacare, don’t trash it

By Robert Kerr, VANCOUVER

As a conservative, I have not supported the idea of the “repeal” effort of the Affordable Care Act. It was the wrong word and approach. If the idea was to repair and fix ACA, then maybe there would have been bipartisan support. The real problem with the ACA is forcing uninsured Americans to buy insurance, or be forced to pay a monetary penalty. I know several people that cannot afford the premiums, so they pay the penalty.

Boy, I grew up learning that one of our freedoms was freedom of choice. The current Obamacare does not allow this choice.

Again, if something is broken, you amend and or fix it. Not trash it.
