Letter: Trump is just what we need

Regarding the Associated Press story “President warns North Korea — Trump threatens ‘fire and fury'” (Aug. 9, The Columbian), Trump’s “fire and fury” is exactly the tone to set. We carry “the big stick.”

One of our boomer subs has more firepower than all but five countries on the planet. Bombers, carrier task forces, drones, satellites, ICBMs of our own, THAAD missile defense system with 100 percent accuracy since 1999 in legitimate tests, well-trained conventional forces, pilots, soldiers, marines, the list goes on.

What has been lacking over the last 22 years is will.

President Trump sounds like President Harry Truman. That’s what is warranted now.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
