A Vancouver man who charged at another man with a knife in the Rose Village neighborhood was sentenced Thursday to more than four years in prison.

Dalton R. Shollenberger, 26, pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to third-degree assault in the brandishing incident, as well as failing to register as a sex offender in a separate case.

Shollenberger was driving shortly after 3 p.m. Sept. 11 near 33rd and P streets when Cameron Cole and his friends attempted to cross the intersection. Shollenberger verbally confronted Cole because he thought the group was in his way when they were walking across the intersection, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Shollenberger left his vehicle and ran toward Cole with a knife in his hand and pointed it in a threatening manner, the affidavit states.

The global resolution of 50 months in prison included a six-month deadly weapon enhancement.
