First Evangelical Church hosted its annual Hot Rods and Hot Dogs event Sunday in the church parking lot. Under mostly sunny skies, classic car owners showed off their rides, while guests such as Johnny Perry, 9, of Vancouver, top right, enjoyed a bounty of hot dogs. Ron Rowland’s gleaming 1938 Willys Coupe, above, was a hit with guests at the happening. For kids, the free event had a bounce house and face painting. The church, 4120 N.E. St. Johns Road, also gave out backpacks with school supplies for kids heading into kindergarten through fifth grade, as well as gently used clothes for kids and adults.
