A fire Sunday at a post office in Skamania County damaged a back office and made for some smoky mail for area residents.

Crews were called to the post office at 1182 Wind River Highway at about 5 a.m., Clark County Deputy Fire Marshal Dan Young said.

A fire occurred in a back office, causing an estimated $80,000 in damage to the structure and contents, Young said. Smoke damage was sustained throughout the business.

The blaze was caused by an electrical issue with a copier, Young said. No one was in the office at the time and no one was injured.
