Letter: Leave business to private sector

By Andrew Geisler, VANCOUVER

Regarding your Aug. 16 story on the proposed parking ordinance, “Vancouver advances parking price caps,” City Manager Eric Holmes asserted that the proposal to raise caps is intended to incent private investment in downtown parking structures. It’s a refreshingly new perspective, given the city’s 2005 investment in hotels and convention space, which is traditionally a private-sector function.
