Letter: Chinese program beneficial

I was one of the first kids to start in the Chinese program at Franklin Elementary. It’s been a great experience learning a different language and culture. It’s very interesting and I have had so many great teachers.

When I was in kindergarten we started learning how to speak before we would learn to write and I just couldn’t wait to learn to write all those cool symbols. It’s also great that you always have friends because they go to school wherever the Chinese program goes. I think it’s cool that I can speak, read, and write in a different language but it is a lot more difficult because you need to remember how to write the symbols in Chinese and write in English and all that. But I think it’s worth it.

I started at Franklin, but now I’m in the eighth grade, in middle school, and I learn Chinese there.
