Letter: Show respect for anthem

By Chris Fisher, VANCOUVER

In response to Joe Clarke’s letter on Aug. 19, “Football players: Go ahead and sit,” I would like to say that I am a veteran and agree with Clarke’s opinion. Whenever an athlete sits during the national anthem, the team owners, general managers, and coaches might as well be sitting as well, for they, by their inaction, are condoning their disrespect.

There are many rights enjoyed by Americans — in my opinion, disrespecting the United States is not one of them.
