MEDFORD, Ore. — Authorities say three firefighters working on a blaze southwest of Medford were injured when a fire engine crashed.

The Mail Tribune reports one firefighter was seriously injured and two others suffered minor injuries in the Sunday afternoon incident near Applegate Lake.

Fire public information officer Sierra Hellstrom says the engine rolled off the road near the junction of U.S. Forest Service roads 1030 and 1035.

The names of the injured, along with details about their condition and specific time of the incident, were not immediately available.

On Monday, the 25 lightning-sparked fires in the Applegate Valley had burned about 15 square miles (3885 hectares).

While all 25 fires continue to be monitored, authorities say only six of the fires are growing.
