Beginning on Friday, Clark County emergency services officials are kicking off an annual online game aimed at getting residents prepped for disaster.

The game, called 30 Days, 30 Ways Preparedness Challenge, takes place during the month of September, which is also National Preparedness Month.

Run by Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency, the game tasks players with challenges that are posted online each day at 7 a.m. Players then submit replies to the task via Facebook, Twitter or email and can do so at any point throughout the month.

Submissions are reviewed for creativity, relativity to the task and popularity online. Winners will be selected in October and rewarded with gift cards to Amazon. Rules can be found at 30days30ways.com.

The tasks are intended to be short, not requiring players to spend much time to complete them, and this year’s game even allows players opportunities to “level up” or recruit “allies,” CRESA said.

The agency is in its eighth year of putting on the game and said that its goal is for people to share information about emergency preparedness in hopes that the readiness tips reach those who would not think of them otherwise.
