Firefighters quickly extinguished a bathroom blaze at a Hockinson area home Friday afternoon, minimizing damage to the residence.

At about 4:30 p.m., firefighters with the Vancouver Fire Department and Clark County Fire District 3 were called to 16506 N.E. 99th St. for a residential fire. Five engines and a truck were dispatched, Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Mark Johnston said.

Firefighters were able to keep the blaze confined mostly to a bathroom, though flames did reach the attic, Johnston said.

Seven people live at the residence, Johnston said, and some if not all were home at the time, smelled smoke and called 911.

The blaze was extinguished in less than five minutes, he said.

No one was injured.

The residents were not displaced by the fire and declined assistance from the Red Cross.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the cause of the fire.
