Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following and other opportunities, call 360-735-3683.

Concerned Humans Against Poverty serves food and distributes clothing and supplies to homeless people in downtown Vancouver, 1 to 3 p.m. every Saturday. Individuals and groups are encouraged to volunteer for one or more Saturday, or to donate food or supplies.

Friends of the Carpenter — Second Chance Thrift Store seeks volunteers to stock shelves and assist customers. The nonprofit also seeks help with mass mailings several times per year.

Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart and bold through gender-specific programs and curricula. Teams of volunteers are needed for new after-school programs, typically 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Terms are eight to 10 weeks long. Training is required.

Share needs volunteers to receive and sort donations for needy families during the coming weeks. Help is also needed at Share’s holiday parties, Dec. 19 and Dec. 21, with training at 2 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16.
