Brush Prairie — Hockinson Middle School students have a new octoball court thanks to Kevin Williams, a Hockinson High School junior. Octoball is similar to dodgeball, but played in a fenced-in court. “As a middle schooler, I wanted another option besides basketball, tetherball and foursquare,” Williams said in a release from the district. “When I learned how to play octoball at youth group, I knew it would be a great game for students in middle school.” Williams did the planning, got approvals and raised money for materials for the project, which is part of his effort to earn the Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts. He then supervised the building process as Troop 475 and his family supplied the labor. “The octoball pit was a huge hit,” Hockinson Middle School Principal Brian Lehner said in the same release. “The excitement it created at lunch was awesome, and the kids jumped right in.”
