Fishing Report, Dec. 14

Anglers are catching a few steelhead in the John Day Pool.

White sturgeon retention is closed from Buoy 10 upstream to the Oregon/Washington Border above McNary Dam, but remains an option for catch-and-release fishing.

Walleye fishing is good in the John Day Pool and fair in The Dalles Pool.

Salmon, Steelhead

Cowlitz River — From the I-5 bridge downstream: 14 bank rods had no catch. Above the I-5 bridge: 15 bank rods kept 2 adult coho and released 1 fish.

Mainstem Lewis River — 34 bank rods kept 1 steelhead and released 1 fish.

North Fork Lewis River — 25 bank rods kept 3 steelhead and 1 adult coho and released 1 adult coho. 1 boat rod had no catch.

Bonneville Pool — Weekly checking showed no catch for four boats (five anglers).

John Day Pool — Weekly checking showed no catch for two bank anglers; and two steelhead kept, plus one steelhead released for four boats (eight anglers).

Salmon Creek — Steelheading in Salmon Creek and other streams is suffering from a lack of rain.

Walleye

Bonneville Pool — Weekly checking showed no catch for one boat (one angler).

The Dalles Pool — Weekly checking showed three walleye kept, plus one walleye released for one bank angler; and eight walleye kept for seven boats (13 anglers).

John Day Pool — Weekly checking showed 15 walleye kept, plus three walleye released for seven boats (14 anglers).
