Girls basketball: La Center 71, Battle Ground 34

Molly Edwards scored 17 points to lead La Center past Battle Ground 71-34 on Thursday night.

It was Edwards’ second game of the season since returning from an ankle injury.

The Wildcats led by two after the first quarter, then the offense got rolling and they outscored Battle Ground by 40 over the next two quarters.

“We started moving the ball, got it inside and outside, then they couldn’t contain Whitley (Seter),” Wildcats coach Herm VanWeerdhuizen said.

Seter finished with 15 points — 12 of them came in the third quarter — and 10 rebounds and Taylor Mills added 11 points, five assists and five steals for La Center.

Madison Mukensnabl led Battle Ground with 10 points.

LA CENTER — Sierra Frasier 6, Katie Nelson 0, Alyssa McKnight 3, Whitley Seter 15, Molly Edwards 17, Natasha Lewis 0, Madison Rose 0, Bethany Whitten 6, Taylor Mills 11, Mia Edwards 0, Taylor Stephens 13. Totals 37 (10) 7-10 71.
