Boys basketball: Skyview 66, Corvallis (Ore.) 50

Led by Samaad Hector’s 16 points and 11 rebounds, four Skyview Storm players scored in double figures for a 66-50 boys basketball victory over Corvallis (Ore.) in Monday’s opening game of the Capitol City Classic at Willamette University.

The win improves the Storm, Class 4A’s top-ranked team in the latest WIAA RPI rankings, to 7-0 on the season.

Skyview advances to the 16-team tournament’s quarterfinals at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday and faces defending OSAA 5A state champion Wilsonville (Ore.), a Monday tournament winner over Stayton (Ore.), 72-31.

Alex Schumacher added 13 points for Skyview, Cole Grossman had 12 and KB Fesehazion added 11 for the Storm, which led 38-20 at halftime on the 5A Spartans.
