The nonprofit jobs organization Workforce Southwest Washington is honoring three firms for helping to build up the local job market.

Two companies will be honored for innovation: LSW Architects, whose relatively new design internship will “build a future workforce of design thinkers,” and Silicon Forest Electronics, for its youth outreach and internships that have helped land young adults jobs in the manufacturing sector.

The Southwest Washington Contractors Association was honored for excellence. The organization works closely with Clark College, Cascadia Technical Academy, Columbia-Willamette Workforce Collaborative and others to bolster job opportunities.

“The award recipients have demonstrated strong commitment to exposing our youth to local job and career opportunities, improving the skills of our workforce to enable companies to hire local skilled talent and providing job opportunities for residents,” Workforce CEO Jeanne Bennett said in a prepared statement.
