PORTLAND — A water main break in Southeast Portland could shut down water service to small area until Monday afternoon.

Portland Water Bureau started work on repairing the damaged 8-inch cast iron pipe from 1912. The work will occur along Southeast 82nd Avenue between Southeast Ogden and Cooper streets.

Four businesses and two homes are in the affected area.

Water bureau crews work round-the-clock every day of the year and this one on Christmas morning is just one of about 200 main breaks a year.

Drive cautiously in the area and avoid it if you can to prevent traffic delays.
