A fire reported Friday night damaged a home in rural east Clark County.

At 9:24 p.m., East County Fire & Rescue was dispatched to the fire at 37913 N.E. Vernon Road in Washougal. Firefighters dealt with icy road conditions on route to the house, which delayed their arrival, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by The Columbian.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and, upon evaluating the house, discovered fire in a daylight basement.

Crews continued working at the house late Friday.
