1. Football fun
Pack a picnic blanket and a football for the community Tailgate Party, hosted by the city of Ridgefield. The day will feature music, food vendors, an outdoor beer garden, a cornhole contest and a flag football game for all ages from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 4 in Overlook Park, Pioneer Street and Main Avenue, Ridgefield. Home cooks and chefs will be showing off their skills as part of the second annual community chili challenge at noon, with the best pot of chili winning cash prizes and bragging rights. Winners in the amateur competition will be chosen by a panel of judges, while the winner of the professional category will be decided by public tasting. There also will be a football-themed scavenger hunt at participating downtown businesses, and everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite team colors. 2. Love vignettes
Battle Ground High School Drama Club presents “Almost, Maine.” This production interweaves the lives of its characters as they experience love and loss in nine vignettes, all taking place in a little town in Maine called Almost. The performance begins at 7 p.m. Feb. 2-4 and 9-11 at Battle Ground High School, 300 W. Main St., Battle Ground. 3. Friday sweets
Chocolate treats, themed activities, a movie and more will be part of First Friday Camas: “A Chocolate Affair to Remember” from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 3. Activities include Valentine’s crafts for kids and adults, painting of love rocks, music by the youth band Simply 8, chocolate sweets and a screening of “Groundhog Day (1993),” at 8 p.m. at the Liberty Theatre for $6. Visitors also can explore the artwork at local galleries during First Friday in Camas. Students from Camas High School’s Integrated Arts and Academics programs will showcase art prints at Second Story Gallery in the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas. Glass work by Vicki Green will be on display at the Camas Gallery, 408 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas. And paintings by George Hamilton will be on display at the Attic Gallery, 421 N.E.
