Letter: Don’t be fooled; we’ll pay for wall

Who will pay for the wall? What a dumb question. The American consumer will pay. For example, Let’s say a local grocer has been paying $1 per pound for tomatoes from Mexico. He adds a 25 percent profit to that and we, the consumer, pay $1.25 per pound. Now the Mexican farmer has to pay the 20 percent tax to get his tomatoes to market. He has to sell them to our grocer for $1.20 per pound. Our grocer then adds his 25 percent ($.30) on and we now pay $1.50 per pound. Who gets the short end of the stick? We do. Who wins? The U.S. businessman. Again, who will pay for the wall? Not Mexico.

Our congresswoman understands that this is not in the best interest of her constituents, but will she stand up for her constituents or fold?
