Eight teams from six high schools participated in the Clark County District Mock Trial Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday at the Clark County Courthouse in Vancouver. The students presented the case of Otto Blotto, a manslaughter trial for the corporate manufacturer of a driverless car. Teams from Camas, Columbia River, Columbia White Salmon, Hockinson and Morton high schools and Cascadia Technical Academy presented both the prosecution and defense sides of the case.

The mock trials were presided over a by judge and rated by three attorneys who played jurors.

“We have one of the best local tournaments in the state, because our many volunteers allow all of the students to have multiple chances to show what they can do,” Superior Court Judge Robert Lewis said in an email.

Camas High School (Team 1), Cascadia Tech (Team 1) and Columbia High School took top honors and will be invited to the State Mock Trial Tournament from March 24 to 26 at the Thurston County Courthouse in Olympia.
