Hough — Second Step Housing received a donation of 32 kids-size quilts and four pillows from a Vancouver 9-year-old named Lucy Crouse, who calls the quilts her “stitched hugs.”

The project started in the fall, when she baked and sold pies around Thanksgiving to get money for fabric and then started stitching.

She has already started quilts for next year, and said she wants kids to have quilts “to help them feel happy and feel like they’re home,” according to a release from Second Step. People can follow Lucy’s project at www.facebook.com/stitchedhugs, and help Lucy purchase fabric at www.gofundme.com/lucys-stitched-hugs.
