Letter: Kudos to community

By Shelby Brock, WASHOUGAL

Thank you for the Feb. 13 story “Community rallies after fire — Fundraising benefits lost business, family of woman who died.” I grew up in the area and was devastated when I heard of the fire, and that Amy Hooser lost her life to it, along with 10 animals. But what makes me want to thank you, and the entire community, is that the community banded together to support those who lost their business and loved ones.

A strong, supportive community is essential to the well-being and prosperity of the people within it. Acts such as this fundraiser should not go unnoticed. I urge everybody to follow in these footsteps, in troubled and peaceful times alike.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
