Suspect arrested, baby safe after Gresham standoff

GRESHAM, Ore. — Gresham police have arrested a man who barricaded himself inside an apartment.

The incident began late Wednesday, around midnight, when officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance. The woman left the apartment when police arrived, but the man declined to leave, and the couple’s baby remained inside.

A SWAT team was called and a standoff ensued during the overnight hours. Gresham police announced at about 6:30 a.m. that the suspect was in custody and the child was safe.
