Letter: No excuse for Herrera Beutler

By John McDermott, VANCOUVER
Published: January 9, 2017, 6:00am

I read in The Columbian that Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler frowned on the congressional ethics office vote (“Local Angle: Herrera Beutler frowned on plan,” Jan. 4).

Too bad for the residents of Southwest Washington that she never made it to work in time to voice an opinion with her vote. At a base salary of $174,000 per year, the least we can expect is that our representative can show up in Washington on time. Never mind the lame excuse.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
