Hazel Dell – Alas, Bud’s Party didn’t persist, after all.

The twice-cancelled Youth Holiday Giving Event, snowed out on Dec. 15 and then again on the rescheduled date — which was Thursday night, Jan. 12 — won’t be rescheduled yet again at Sarah J. Anderson Elementary School. Organizers are pretty sure there won’t be another party until December.

“Not possible to reschedule with the school,” neighborhood leader Doug Ballou said in an email. “We are evaluating and considering how to proceed” with the many wrapped and unwrapped presents, and big items like new bicycles that were headed for the party and now remain in storage, he said.

The party, nicknamed “Bud’s Party” for its founder, the late Hazel Dell activist Bud Van Cleve, has been an annual charitable tradition for nearly 20 years.
