Ellsworth Springs — Washington State University Extension’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education was at Ellsworth Elementary School for its Harvest of the Month campaign. This month is focused on leafy greens, and more than 300 students were asked to try kale salad during the WSU program’s recent visit. There will be other greens on the menu throughout the rest of the month. The campaign brings people from the college’s nutrition program to participating elementary schools to allow students to try local food not typically found in cafeterias.
