I appreciate that Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler has, thus far, kept a respectable distance from the incoming Trump administration.
Given the importance of the ports to the economy of Clark County, I hope and expect that she will take a strong position for continued free trade with the rest of the world. President Trump’s isolationist agenda has the potential to cause immediate harm to our community, and if one of his loose tweets sets off a trade war, we all will be worse off.
