Visitors can try an acorn muffin, making ink from an oak gall, touch a 400-year-old tree and learn about the tree on a naturalist-led hike at 2 p.m. There will be presentations on creating and preserving oak habitats at 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. at the Carty Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, 28908 N.W. Next weekend, be part of the action as “robbers” stop and board the train to steal passengers’ coins and jewelry during the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad’s Train Robbery rides. The train will take a 13-mile round trip through North Clark County, including a stop to see Yacolt Falls, before returning to the station, 207 N. Railroad Ave., Yacolt. The train leaves at noon and 2:30 p.m. July 15-16 and Aug. 19-20. The celebration of car culture will continue with Cruise the Couve on Vancouver’s Main Street, as hot rods, classic cars and more are invited to show off from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. July 15.
