Letter: Noise drowns out the fun

By Sally Loveland, VANCOUVER

I recently moved to the Vancouver area from another state. My daughter warned me about the fireworks here (she lives in the county) but I have years of memories of wonderful Fourth of July holidays and fireworks displays.

Well, this year was not about lighting up the sky. It was all about noise. From 3 p.m. until well after midnight, there was a steady barrage of cannon booms. I did hear a few regular firecracker strings go off, and one or two zingers, so I know there must have been a few sky lighters. But for the most part it felt like a war zone. My deepest sympathy to any sufferers of PTSD who had to endure this horrific holiday.
