Debris burning will be prohibited on all state Department of Natural Resources-protected land in three Southwest Washington counties beginning Saturday, the agency announced Wednesday.

The fire-danger rating will also increase from moderate to high in Clark, Skamania and Cowlitz counties.

Recreational fires are still allowed in approved pits in designated campgrounds, but campground users are encouraged to check with campground hosts before starting campfires, as individual sites may ban them.

The DNR may also allow agency-approved prescribed fires.

Industrial fire precaution levels have increased in parts of Eastern Washington, along with fire-danger ratings.

Daily updates on burn restrictions around the state are available at 1-800-323-BURN. More information on industrial fire rules or fire danger is available online through https://fortress.wa.gov/dnr/protection/firedanger and www.dnr.wa.gov/ifpl.
