Letter: Be considerate with fireworks

By Carolyn Shelby, Vancouver
Published: July 14, 2017, 6:00am

Thankfully, most locals in my neighborhood in unincorporated Vancouver honored the new fireworks restrictions. However, the fireworks exploded above our block were just as large, loud and potentially lethal as in former years. Sparks floated down like rain onto our rooftops. Shrapnel from the explosions pounded against my windows like bullets. Who said that the celebration of our independence needs to be tied to the potential loss of our homes, pets and possessions?
