Volunteers to help spruce up Columbia Springs

The public is invited to help improve the landscape at Columbia Springs during a volunteer event next month.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 19, volunteers will plant trees, remove invasive species and improve trails, among other projects. The day will end with an activity. In previous years, groups have included weaving baskets from English ivy, building bird feeders and guided hatchery tours.

Children must be 7 years or older to participate. Those under 16 years old need be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Teens between 16 and 17 must have a parent or guardian sign them in at the start of the day.

Registration isn’t required, but participation is limited to 30 people.
