Yes, it’s just Trump being Trump

I have to agree with Jim Roth (“It’s just Trump being Trump,” July 13, Our Readers’ Views).

We have had many great leaders who haven’t always said the right things. During World War II, Prime Minister of England Winston Churchill, a great man, was also known for his drinking. He is quoted as saying, “I may be drunk, miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.” Then there was the outspoken President Harry Truman, known for the Truman Doctrine. He’s quoted as saying, “My choice early in life was either to be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politician.”

A lot of people don’t always say the right things, but they do great deeds anyway.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
