After nearly a month on the run, an 18-year-old escapee from Camp Riverbend Youth Transitional Facility was caught this week after allegedly shoplifting candy bars in Albany, Ore., state police said.

Albany police detained Micah West of Salem, Ore., on the shoplifting allegations Tuesday and then arrested him on the escape warrant and booked him into the Linn County Jail, Oregon State Police said.

On Wednesday, he was transferred to the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn. He may face charges for his June 20 escape from Camp Riverbend as well as other allegations after his escape, police said.

State police believe West and/or fellow escapee Brittain McAuliffe, 18, of Central Point stole a vehicle from Oregon State Parks on June 24, they said in an earlier release.

McAuliffe is still at large. Police describe him as 5-foot-10, 220 pounds, with a stocky build and tattoos on both forearms, one saying “Native Pride.”

Police ask anyone who spots him to contact the Oregon State Police Southern Command Center dispatch at 541-664-4600 or 911.
