EVERETT — A Washington man being held on kidnapping and rape charges is also suspected in a shooting that wounded a Lynnwood-area woman.

The Everett Daily Herald reports that the 20-year-old Duvall man was jailed Tuesday after his former girlfriend said he abducted her at gunpoint.

She told police that he then beat, choked and raped her.

King County officials say the woman slipped away, took control of the man’s car and fled.

She also told investigators one of her friends was shot during the abduction, which reportedly occurred Sunday near Lynnwood.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and screaming at the home early Sunday morning.

A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokesman says a woman sought treatment Sunday at a hospital for a gunshot wound to her abdomen.
