Vancouver Pokémon trainer finished in top 10 in international competition

Brush Prairie — Ben Omnes-Norton, 15, of Vancouver earned an eighth-place finish in the video game senior division at the 2017 Pokemon North American International Championships held June 30 through July 2 in Indianapolis. Omnes-Norton won a portion of the more than $150,000 in scholarships and prizes awarded at the event, as well as championship points that will count toward a potential invite to the 2017 Pokemon World Championships in Anaheim, Calif., in August. The 2017 Pokemon World Championships is an invitation-only tournament open to only the most elite Pokemon players from around the world, featuring competitors from more than 30 countries.
