Three Camas-Washougal pitchers combined to hold KWRL to three hits as Camas-Washougal won 6-1 Friday in the final pool play game of the Babe Ruth 13-14 year-old Pacific Northwest Regional tournament at Rister Field in Kelso.

That result decided the No. 2 seed and semifinalist from the National Division.

Calgary is the top seed after going 4-0 in pool play, which concluded Friday at the 10-team event.

Camas-Washougal and KWRL each had one loss going into their final pool play game, which was essentially an elimination game.

Gideon Malychewski, Beau Kersey and Skylar Kelsey were the pitchers for Camas-Washougal.

Kolby Broadbent singled in a run and also had a sacrifice fly that scored a run for Camas-Washougal. Josh Mansur, Taylor Shega, and Logan Kearsey each drove in a run as well.

Jackson Mills doubled in KWRL’s run in the sixth inning to break up the shutout.

Host Kelso awaits Camas-Washougal in Saturday’s first semifinal. Kelso went 4-0 in the American Division, outscoring its opponents 39-6 to earn its top seed.

The first semifinal between Calgary and North Bend, Ore. (2-1-1) is at 10 a.m. followed by Camas-Washougal vs. Kelso at 1 p.m. The championship game is at 5 p.m.

The regional champion advances to the Babe Ruth 13-15 year-old World Series at Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Aug. 10-17.

BABE RUTH PNW 14s REGIONAL — KWRL fell short of the Babe Ruth 14-year-old World Series, losing to West Linn, Ore., 6-0 in the regional championship game at Calgary on Friday morning.

A single by Aidan Hundt and a double by Jordan Wiggins were the only hits for KWRL.

West Linn moves on to the Babe Ruth 14-year-old World Series, Aug. 10-17 at Glen Allen, Va.
