It appears that our somewhat typical “June gloom” is upon us as we discussed here the other day. An onshore flow of air all week promises cooler than average temperatures plenty of cloud cover and some drizzle or light showers at times. Thursday is the best day for a more wetting rain.
Fun, huh? The current weather pattern doesn’t surprise me at all. From observations and knowledge gained over the years, June has cloudier days than May. Oh, I must say our May this year was fantastic even more than I could have hoped for.
So when is the next heat wave heading our way? Through all these low clouds and such, I can’t see hot weather any time soon. We may see more sunshine than clouds Wednesday as a drift of wind comes off the Cascades temporarily reversing the on shore, cool marine air. I would plan on a chilly (for June) morning and then warmer by afternoon. We’ll struggle to reach the low 70s any day this week.
I had this wording in an email from weather observer Jim Knoll in Five Corners: “I hope you enjoyed our brief summer. I found it quite enjoyable but now that the fall rains and mountain snows have started I guess it’s time for us to get ready for another winter. Well, okay maybe not quite but it was nice to have a streak of dry and warm days.”
