Body found in Columbia River ID’d as Portland man

The body found in the Columbia River Monday afternoon has been identified as a Portland man.

The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office said that John David Martin, 51, was found deceased in the river near the Interstate 205 Bridge. The cause and manner of Martin’s death was not yet available.

Deputies with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office River Patrol responded to the report of a body in the river at 1 p.m. Monday and responded to discover the deceased male.

Detectives with the agency responded and are conducting a death investigation.
